Tokyo - New Year and afterwards

Well it's been a little while since I last got pictures up on here. These are not quite all the remaining ones from Tokyo, but they take in a good deal of the time out there after New Year.

A real mish mash coming up - and there's quite a lot here. If you last all the way to the end, thank you!

This is what happens if you spin around really quickly while looking out of the window in a 32nd story Tokyo apartment. (obviously)

Meant to get up for a lot of sunrise shots while I was in the T, but this is the only one I ended up getting. Still, pretty spectacular...

Happy New Year!

The balloons from a more Sake-induced state...

Wishes flying up into the air!

Prettily lit trees around the temple

Not a bad place to see in the New Year...

Some wishes didn't make it. That would suck.

Everything old gets burned, right infront of the temple

So, what do you do immediately after New Year's? You go to see the emperor and visit a shrine!

Everywhere around Tokyo, temples and palaces are hard up against new skyscrapers

The dragon himself - must be auspicious to pop in and say hello right at the beginning of his year...

The Edo-Tokyo Museum - When they build a museum, they really go for it. Or is it that thing from Tron?

Hope none of this is rude. I love Japanese calligraphy, possibly because my writing is so terrible!

And to finish off with, some amusements - thanks for staying the distance, there'll be more soon!

Original Ice-skates - cold?!

Not fantastic quality, but this is a tree literally full of birds - quite scary to walk past!

I want some of this - please!!

30th December - goodbye 2011!!

I suspect this'll be the last one for 2011 as tomorrow more important things are afoot...

Today's foot-touring took us to the new Sky Tree and Senso-Ji, one of the most important temples in Tokyo.

Senso-Ji

I'd be cross too if I was kept in a cage...

The Sky Tree - the tallest free standing structure in the world. (apparently)

The Asahi Building - not a big golden turd on top but the Asahi Flame...

Happy New Year!
